Updated HS Circuit Top 25: Week 1

The first week of the 2020-2021 high school season is now in the books and already we have a big shift in our updated top-25 national rankings. Most of the top-25 programs have not began their season just yet but a few of them did. The Grind Session, which features three ranked programs, opened up with their season play last week with their first bubble session in Phoenix, Arizona. Below you will find out the updates on our rankings and which programs will begin their season this week.

1. Montverde Academy (FL) (0-0)
The Eagles will begin their season later this month on November 20th. Their purple and gold scrimmage will be on November 17th. Head coach Kevin Boyle and company feature 8 top 100 recruits on their roster.

2. Sunrise Christian (KS) (0-0)
The Buffaloes will begin their 2020-2021 high school season later this month in Allen, Texas at the Battle Basketball Showcase where they are expected to face the nation's number one recruit Emoni Bates and the Ypsi Prep Academy Ballboys as well as Hillcrest Prep (AZ).

3. IMG Academy (FL) (0-0)
The Ascenders will not play again until November 18th after winning the loaded Top Flight Invite only division at the Border League a couple weeks ago. Sean McAloon's bunch features 8 top 100 players on their roster.

4. Sierra Canyon (CA) (0-0)
Sierra Canyon will begin their season play as a club team this Thursday night as they face top-25 Coronado (NV) in Phoenix, Arizona as part of a triple-header that will be aired on ESPN2.

5. Bishop Gorman (NV) (0-0)
The Gaels are sill trying to figure out when they will play again. They were scheduled to play in the annual and famous Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada in December but that event has been cancelled unfortunately.

6. Compass Prep (AZ) (5-0) 
The Dragons make a big leap in the national top-25 rankings after starting the season ranked number sixteen and now ranked number six in the country. Compass Prep defeated three ranked opponents last week, which included Prolific Prep (CA), West Oaks Academy (FL), and rival Dream City Christian (AZ) in overtime. They have been led by 2021 G TyTy Washington, who is currently averaging 27.2 PPG, 7.0 RPG, and 4.0 APG to begin the season. The Dragons are now placed in our top-10 and their play on the court has proven they are an elite caliber squad. They will play three more games this week in Phoenix, Arizona as part of the Grind Session bubble.

7. West Oaks Academy (FL) (0-0)
Although these games technically do not count against their record, the Flame sit at 3-2 in Phoenix, Arizona in the Grind Session bubble. West Oaks Academy will officially begin their 2020-2021 high school season on November 13th.

8. Wasatch Academy (UT) (0-0)
The Tigers will not begin their 2020-2021 high school season until November 24th. They will play two in state matchups before they head to Atlanta for the annual and famous Holiday Hoopsgiving Showcase.

9. Ypsi Prep Academy (MI) (0-0)
Highly rated Michigan State commit 2022 F Emoni Bates and the Ball Boys of Ypsi Prep Academy will make their season and program debut this Thursday night as they host top-25 ranked Minnehaha Academy (MN). Their matchup will be aired on ESPN2 as part of a triple header beginning at 7PM ET.

10. Prolific Prep (CA) (3-2)
Prolific Prep moves down a spot in our updated national rankings after going 3-2 last week in Phoenix, Arizona in the Grind Session bubble. The Crew took a lost to a red hot Compass Prep (AZ) and West Oaks Academy (FL), Stanford commit 2021 PG Isa Silva did not play that game. Prolific Prep will have three more games this week in Phoenix.

11. DeMatha Catholic (MD) (0-0)
The defending WCAC champions are expected to begin basketball activities sometime next month.

12. St. Frances Academy (MD) (0-0)
St. Frances will begin their basketball season this week as a club team "Baltimore Panthers".

13. Long Island Lutheran (NY (0-0)
The Crusaders are still waiting to confirm their schedule for the 2020-2021 high school season but they have began practicing as a team to prepare for their season.

14. La Lumiere (IN) (0-0)
The Lakers are not expected to begin their 2020-2021 high school season until December 4th where they are expected to play in the Hendricks County Hoopfest.

15. Oak Hill Academy (VA) (3-0) 
Oak Hill Academy has started their 2020-2021 high school season with a 3-0 overall record. The Warriors have outscored their first three opponents with a combined score of 329-182. Highly rated 2022 SG M.J. Rice has led the Warriors in scoring at 20.7 PPG to begin the season through the first three games. Oak Hill Academy will have one more game this week against Minnesota Prep (MN) before their highly anticipated matchup against Lake Norman Christian (NC) on Thursday. ESPN2 is expected to live stream the matchup on national television beginning at 7PM ET.

16. Westtown School (PA) (0-0)
Westtown School will not begin their 2020-2021 high school season until November 20th where they are expected to play in the Phelps School Tourney.

17. Dream City Christian (AZ) (2-2)
Dream City Christian stays in place ranked at number seventeen after going 2-2 to begin their 2020-2021 high school out in Phoenix in the Grind Session bubble. The Eagles have been led by 2021 F Arthur Kaluma, who is averaging 21.6 PPG in three games and 2021 PG Jayden Nunn, who is averaging 22.7 PPG through four games. Kyle Weaver's bunch was missing Demari Williams for the entire first set of games.

18. Combine Academy (NC) (0-0)
The Goats went 2-0 over the weekend in their exhibition games at the Phenom Hoops Jamboree and 2023 PG Robert Dillingham averaged 22.0 PPG. Combine Academy is expected to begin their season this weekend in the Phenom Tip-Off Classic.

19.  Legacy Early College (SC) (0-0)
The Lions will begin their 2020-2021 season on the road against Asheville Christian Academy (NC) on November 17th.

20. The Patrick School (NJ) (0-0)
The state of New Jersey has allowed basketball practice to begin but the Celtics are still working on their 2020-2021 high school season schedule.

21. Coronado (NV) (0-0)
The nation's number one public school will be on the court once again this Thursday as they face top-5 ranked Sierra Canyon (CA) in Phoenix, Arizona. Their matchup is expected to be aired on ESPN2 as part of a triple header beginning at 7PM ET.

22. Camden (NJ) (0-0)
The defending South Jersey Group 2 champions are still working on their 2020-2021 high school season schedule.

23. Hamilton Heights (TN) (0-0)
Hamilton Heights will begin their 2020-2021 high school season this weekend at home at the Hawks Havoc Showcase. 

24. Paul VI (VA) (0-0)
The WCAC is expected to have teams begin practicing next month. Paul VI is still working on their 2020-2021 high school season schedule.

25. Minnehaha Academy (MN) (0-0)
Minnehaha Academy will be playing their last game as the club team "Team Sizzle" this Thursday as they are expected to begin their 2020-2021 high school season next month. They will be facing top-25 ranked Ypsi Prep Academy (MI) this Thursday in Ann Arbor, Michigan. ESPN2 is expected to televise the highly anticipated matchup.
