The 2020-2021 high school season has officially ended for most states around the country and with COVID-19 still moving around, a few states have delayed their basketball seasons. The 2021-2022 is months away but we always love to preview what we have in store for next season. Here we take a look at an early preview on some programs who did not finish the 2020-2021 high school season ranked in the top-25 nationally but could receive some national attention as their season goes along next year.

Bergen Catholic (NJ) Last Season Record: 7-2

Although the state of New Jersey cut their 2020-2021 high school season short with only a few games this past season, Bergen Catholic gave us just a quick preview on what kind of team they would have been and could be coming for next season. The Crusaders return their trio of guards in 2024 PG Elliot Cadeau, 2022 G Will Richardson, and 2022 G Julian Brown next season. Bergen Catholic should be in a few of the top and national events next season. They will for sure be one of the best programs out of New Jersey coming into the 2021-2022 high school season.

Norcross (GA) Last Season Record: 21-8

The Blue Devils out of Norcross, Georgia has always consistently been one of Georgia's top tier programs and producing next level talent over the last decade or so. This past season, Norcross finished with a 21-8 overall record with a very young talented group and making it to the GHSA class 7A second round playoff game. Next season's squad should be much better and more mature, especially from what they are expected to return as of now. Their returning roster for now is headlined by 2023 PG London Johnson and 2024 SG Jahki Howard

Bishop McLaughlin (FL) Last Season Record: 22-7

Bishop McLaughlin was just one game away from being crowned the FHSAA class 3A state champions before falling short to Calvary Christian (FL) in overtime. The Hurricanes will be one of the underrated teams to keep an eye on nationally throughout the 2021-2022 high school season. They will return their entire roster from their 22-7 squad which will be headlined by 2022 SG Emanuel Sharp and 2022 F Dillon Mitchell. Sharp averaged 24.7 points per game last season while Mitchell averaged 17.6 points per game. Bishop McLaughlin already have plans to play in multiple national events for next season and Sharpe and Mitchell will be one of the nation's top duos to keep tabs on.

Real Salt Lake (UT) Last Season Record: 30-3

Real Salt Lake Academy, out of Herriman, Utah, burst onto the national scene last season just a bit and should begin the 2021-2022 high school season ranked in the top-25 nationally. The Griffins are returning basically all of their roster from their 30-3 team just a year ago headlined by star big man 2022 C Adam Stewart and highly rated 2023 PG Dravyn Lawhorn. Head coach David Evans will have Real Salt Lake Academy as one of the top programs out West and in the country in no time. They have already committed and/or talking to multiple national events across the country next season. A sneaky top-25 caliber squad coming in.

Roselle Catholic (NJ) Last Season Record: 12-3

Like Bergen Catholic (NJ), Roselle Catholic did not have much of a 20202-2021 high school season due to the rules of the state of New Jersey regarding COVID-19 protocols. The Lions have always been one of the state's top primary basketball programs and usually makes their names known on the national scene. Next season, when hopefully things are in full swing, Roselle Catholic will be recognized as one of the top national programs once again and should be one of the top teams in the state. They will returning almost most of their roster from this past season with UConn commit 2022 G Corey Floyd Jr. and highly rated 2023 PG Simeon Wilcher headlining their roster.

Beaumont United (TX) Last Season Record: 31-0

Arguably the best team coming into the 2021-2022 high school season out of Texas right now, Beaumont United should get themselves some national recognition next season. The Timberwolves finished their amazing 2020-2021 high school season with a 31-0 record and capturing the UIL class 5A state championship in a close overtime win. They are expected to bring back most of their roster from a year ago from their undefeated squad, including 2022 F Terrence Arceneaux and 2023 PG Wesley Yates III. Beaumont United without question will be a top-3 program in the state of Texas to begin the season and will look to add on their 31-game winning streak. They hold a combined 64-3 record over the last two season's.

Berkmar (GA) Last Season Record: 25-6

The Patriots made their way to the GHSA class 7A state championship last season and had a surprising run. They finished the 2020-2021 high school season with a 25-6 overall record while playing some of the top teams in the state of Georgia. Berkmar is expected to make another run during the 2021-2022 high school season as they return most of their roster from their state runner-up team. 2022 F Malique Ewin and 2022 PG Jermahri Hill will be the main contributors next season and will headline their roster. The Patriots are already expected to appear in multiple national events during the 2021-2022 season will try and make a name for themselves nationally.

Greensboro Day (NC) Last Season Record: 24-6

Legendary head coach Freddy Johnson will be making his return to North Carolina powerhouse Greensboro Day next season after finishing the 2020-2021 high school season with a 24-6 overall record and playing a national schedule as they do every season. The Bengals season ended last season in the NCISAA class 4A semifinals where they took a lost to Cannon School (NC). They will be returning four out of their five starters from just a season ago and have already booked plans to appear in multiple national tournaments and events. Key pieces like 2023 G Jaydon Young, 2022 SG Michael Zanoni, 2022 PG Nik Graves, and 2022 F C.J. Collins are all expected to return including other major contributors. Greensboro Day will come in as one of the best programs once again in the state of North Carolina.

Dr. Phillips (FL) Last Season Record: 24-3

The Panthers took home the FHSAA class 7A state championship this past season and finishing with an overall 24-3 record on their way to it. Dr. Phillips High School will be one of the best public schools not only in the state of Florida, but in the entire country. They have earned their respect in Florida and could receive some national attention during the 2021-2022 high school season. They will be returning just about everyone on their roster from their championship squad and will be headlined by 2022 C Ernest Udeh Jr., 2022 SG Riley Kugel, and 2022 PG Denzel Aberdeen. Dr. Phillips has already locked in a couple national events coming up for next season and will be trying to earn more national respect.

Centerville (OH) Last Season Record: 26-3

The Centerville Ohio Elks are coming off their state championship season where they finished with an overall record of 26-3 and capturing the OHSAA division one bracket title. The Elks will be one of the best public schools in the country and one of the best teams in the state of Ohio next season. They will be returning a few key pieces from last season's team which will include 2023 PG Gabe Cupps and 2022 F Tom House. Centerville is already locked in to one of the nation's top national events next season and could appear in a couple more for the 2021-2022 high school season. They will for sure be trying to make their names known nationally next season.

Carmel (IN) Last Season Record: 26-2

A program most of you may not recognize is Carmel High School, which just outside of Indianapolis, Indiana. The Greyhounds are coming off their state championship run where they defeated Indiana powerhouse Lawrence North (IN) in overtime for the IHSAA class 4A state title. Carmel finished the 2020-2021 high school season with a 26-3 overall record. They will be returning a few key pieces next season from this year's title winning squad. Prospects like 2022 F Pete Suder, 2022 PG Josh Whack, and 2022 F Charlie Williams will be the major key contributors returning to the starting lineup next season. The Greyhounds season just ended about a week ago so their 2021-2022 schedule as of now has not been confirmed just yet but they could possibly be playing in a couple national events next season.
