After recovering from an elbow injury all summer, Mark Mitchell is back on the highest stage and excelling at Sunrise Christian Academy (KS) for his senior season. Today, December 10th, Mitchell has decided to play his college basketball at Duke University.

Mitchell, who is ranked 10th in the country by 247 Sports, gives Duke the No. 1 recruiting class for the class of 2022. He will be joining 5-star's Derek Lively, Dariq Whitehead, and Kyle Filipowski who will all be star freshman in the 2022-2023 college basketball year.

Mitchell took an official visit to Duke on October 15-16, for Duke's annual "Countdown to Craziness". From videos that surfaced across the internet, Mitchell was loving it. Fans were chanting "we want Mark" as he stood in the middle of the student section with now future teammates Dereck Lively II and Dariq Whitehead.

Mitchell is a 6-foot-9 forward who has the skills of a guard. He can score from multiple levels on the court. His ability to put the ball on the floor gives him an advantage over smaller defenders.

With Mitchell now announcing his commitment to Duke, he will now be able to focus on the main goal for his senior season; winning a GEICO National Championship with Sunrise Christian.

What does Mitchell bring to Duke?

As mentioned before, the 2022 recruiting class for Duke is loaded for incoming head coach Jon Scheyer.

But Mitchell brings something to Duke that the other recruits do not, that is versatility. He can play positions 1-4. Seen this year at Sunrise, Christian, Mitchell can bring the ball up and set up the offense. He can be a scorer, facilitator, or a rebounder.

Defensively, he can guard positions 1-4. His strong upper body allows him to bang around with bigs in the post. Mitchell has very quick feet which helps him with his perimeter defense. Standing at 6'9 his long frame allows him to get into passing lanes, causing deflections and racking up steals.

Mark Mitchell will be an immediate impact once he steps on the floor for Duke in his freshman season. With his skill-set Mitchell has the chance to be one of the best freshman in the nation next year.
